Our Santa Fe River & Springs Stories Project

Water is universally recognized across cultures, faiths, and history as a sacred entity—the ultimate life-giver, purifier and spiritual teacher.

We need your stories about the Santa Fe River & Springs!

Our Santa Fe River (OSFR) wants to tell the human story of the Santa Fe River Springs—how we have interacted with this natural water system and how we value it. We are beginning a year long story gathering project that will result in videos, interviews, photographs, website, maybe even a book. For the project to succeed, we need your help.

What did you feel the first time you swam in a spring? Did a slow paddle on the river help you relax? Did you and your family, friends, co-workers or church group look forward to annual gatherings along the river? Have you fished, watched birds and wildlife, or helped with river cleanups? Did the river and springs inspire you to create something? Did you visit the river and springs as part of a class or educational program? Do you have a business that benefits from the river and the springs? Were you baptized in a local spring? Did an experience change your life in any way?

OSFR will collect stories all the way from the headwaters of the river at Lake Santa Fe in Melrose to its confluence with the Suwannee. Tributaries such as the New River and the Ichetucknee are included in this project. We will hold information sessions in towns along the river’s route. Information sessions will be publicized here, in our newsletter, on OSFR’s and other FaceBook pages, and in your local communities.

We hope you will share your stories with us. Fill out the form below to be added to the OSFR Story mailing list and to let us know if you have a story to share or if you have any questions. Thank you!.

Please fill out this contact form and I will follow up to get your full story.
